Course Overview
This is an introductory course in Web Design and programming. The objective of the course is to provide students with a working knowledge of the principles of web design. Students will learn various skills, methods, and techniques used to create web pages, including HTML hand coding, CSS (cascading style sheets), image manipulation, and basic animation.
Students will be required to utilize a number of learned web design techniques as well as real-life skills such as problem solving, attention to detail, work ethic, follow through, and communication. The main focus of this class will be production of actual web pages, although students will be introduced to the topics of web page organization and web site optimization.
Course Objectives:
- Develop the skills needed to design and code web pages.
- Gain an appreciation for the history or the world wide web.
- Understand the principle of Web page design.
- Visualize and understand the elements of HTML.
- Develop a working knowledge of CSS.
